2008 Shaun Livingston Foundation Report |
Health & WellnessCreated to encourage healthy nutrition and regular physical activity. In early spring more than 10,000 students and families from LA’s BEST attended the LA’s BEST 6th Annual Family Health Festival. The free event provided a variety of hands-on activities, including physical fitness activities, nutrition education demonstrations and live health care sessions. Involvement and support within this health festival supports the foundations mission and vision – surrounding and supporting health and fitness initiatives in an effort to build stronger communities and would also be a great tool to align the Shaun Livingston Foundation with a positive message about healthy eating, healthy lifestyle and exercise. |

Get A Cue Challenge for the Shaun Livingston Foundation- a recap |
NBA player Shaun Livingston hosted a kickoff event for his Shaun Livingston Foundation on Thursday September 18, 2008 in Santa Monica, CA at Yankee Doodles billiards. The inaugural event titled “Get A Cue Challenge” was a celebrity billiards tournament to help raise awareness and funds for the Shaun Livingston Foundation. As quoted on the foundation’s homepage, “I wanted to host our event with a fun venue with a cause that is near and dear to my heart- creating an environment of success for our youngsters.”
The red carpet stayed busy from the start with big name celebrities arriving opting for a more timely arrival as opposed to the typical “fashionably” late. Even the man of the evening, Shaun Livingston, arrived before most of his guests. Early arrivals to grace the red carpet included actor Mekhi Pfeiffer, reality tv star Omorosa, and Jordan Farmer of the LA Lakers. It was a beautiful mix of celebrities from various genres coming together to support a wonderful cause. Where else would you see former hip hop dancer Big Lez chopping it up with long time actor Peter Jason? Lovezz it! |

Shaun Livingston is ready for a comeback.
by Nima Zarrabi Santa Monica, CA — Give Shaun Livingston’s people a call. That is not a shout to NBA general managers. It’s some advice for athletes thinking about putting-together an event to raise awareness for their foundation in a cool and entertaining setting. I had a chance to attend the “Get-a-Cue Challenge” Thursday evening: a billiards tournament hosted by the Shaun Livingston Foundation, held at Yankee Doodles on the Third Street Promenade. The event was put together to raise awareness of the foundation’s goals and to celebrate Shaun’s healthy recovery from a nasty knee injury suffered 18 months ago. The foundation’s goal is to change the lives of children by helping change their environment, according to one of the foundations directors, Rachel Seward. “That ranges from a whole gamut of things,” she says. “From health and good eating, to physical activity, exercise. Things you can do on and off the court to help you stay strong. Education. Leadership. And it’s also about building teamwork and collaborations.” |
