Special appearance by the Beach Boys!

Greetings from the Shaun Livingston Foundation office!

With summer break finally over we hope your fall activities are off to a great start.

While we may not have been able to duplicate the marvelous work we did over the past two years due to Shaun’s rehab and change in team roster, our work still continues to be empowering and rewarding. Let me share with you what we have been doing.

To succeed we have to look forward. I look forward to another great year with the foundation.  I foresee continued growth of our mission and creating environments of success.

There has been much praise for Shaun’s performance in the Summer League games with the Oklahoma City Thunder, the professional basketball franchise based in Oklahoma. Just keep watching this young man…

Salvation Army—Compton, Corp in Compton, CA.

Our partnership with the Salvation Army—Compton Corp arose not only from the sense that our hopes and expectations for the rebuilding of the gym would be of great benefit but also out of our desire to truly impact a community.

Our philanthropic efforts have made a difference -- It has been a blessing and a pleasure for me to see the personal and community impact the gym renovation has made on the Compton Corp.

Out of this blessing, arose an invitation to join and support the Salvation Army--Compton Advisory Board. It is an honor and privilege to be associated with such an incredible group of professionals and community leaders who hail from various occupations, all with a strong commitment to create environments of success.

We were hard at work this summer creating Strategic and Fundraising Plans. Our work with the Salvation Army has helped us to contribute to shaping the type of society that we have always envisioned was possible.

It’s About Time

A TIME FOR YOUTH WATCH DRIVE

To celebrate his joining the Oklahoma City Thunder, and the dedication to the time Shaun has spent on his recovery, we will donate ten wrist watches to deserving youth from the Salvation Army—Compton Corp at the first fall Advisory Board meeting.

It’s About Time is a youth centered annual program and established:

To create, and also to tell the time of course...
Let us be more with our time!
The world time clock ticks for everyone...
For its function...
To manage our time better...

LA’s Best 14th Annual Family Brunch

I had the privilege of attending the 14th Annual Family brunch at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.  The Family brunch salutes the importance of family and provides an opportunity for LA’s BEST to honor those in our community who support programs that enrich the lives of children.

This year five-time Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter Usher Raymond IV was honored with the Family Focus Award. Harvard graduate and Teach for America corps member, Mirla Urzua, who works at an elementary school in South Los Angeles was honored with the Alumnus Award. Also, Variety was honored with the Community Partner Award.

We would like to do more with LA’s BEST because we believe strongly that public service and commitment to community are the pillars of healthy and robust society.
